Terms of Service
Effective 24 July 2026. Plain language where possible; binding throughout.
1. Who we are
HopperTax ("we", "us") provides tax-preparation software for Nigeria and the diaspora at hoppertax.com. These Terms govern your use of the website, web application, and related services (together, the "Service").
By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.
2. Software, not advice
HopperTax is tax software. We compute figures based on the information you provide, applying our understanding of the Nigeria Tax Act, 2025, the Nigeria Tax Administration Act, 2025, and related public guidance.
We are not a law firm or licensed tax practitioner, and nothing in the Service, including responses from the AI Tax Assistant, constitutes legal, tax, or financial advice. For audits, disputes, high-value transactions, or anything with criminal exposure, consult a licensed professional.
You are responsible for the accuracy and completeness of the information you enter, and for reviewing your return before it is submitted anywhere.
3. Your account
You must provide accurate registration information and keep your credentials confidential. You are responsible for activity under your account. We may suspend accounts involved in fraud, abuse, unlawful activity, or attempts to compromise the Service.
You may close your account at any time from Settings → Delete account. See the Privacy Policy for what happens to your data.
4. Fees and payments
Starting a filing is free; paid plans are charged when you choose to file, at the prices shown on the Pricing page (VAT inclusive). Tax payments themselves are processed by licensed payment providers and settle with the relevant tax authority. HopperTax never takes custody of your funds.
Except where required by law, filing fees are non-refundable once a return has been generated. If a payment fails or is duplicated, contact us and we will help resolve it with the payment provider.
5. The AI features
Document extraction, review checks, scores, and assistant answers are generated with the help of artificial intelligence. They can be wrong. Every AI output is presented for your confirmation, and confidence indicators are estimates, not guarantees. You must verify extracted figures against your source documents before relying on them.
6. Remittance comparison
The Remittance Center compares third-party money-transfer providers on cost and speed. We are not a money transmitter, do not process transfers, and are not responsible for third-party providers' services. Rates shown may differ from the rate you receive at the provider.
7. Intellectual property
The Service, including its software, design, brand, and content, belongs to HopperTax or its licensors. We grant you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the Service for your own (or your organisation's) tax affairs. Your documents and data remain yours; you grant us the limited licence needed to process them to provide the Service.
8. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, HopperTax's total liability arising from the Service in any 12-month period is limited to the fees you paid us in that period. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for penalties arising from inaccurate information you provided or from failing to file on time where the Service was available to you.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under Nigerian law.
9. Changes and termination
We may update the Service and these Terms; material changes will be notified in-app or by email, and continued use after notice constitutes acceptance. We may discontinue the Service with reasonable notice, in which case you will be able to export your documents.
10. Governing law and contact
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of Nigerian courts. Questions: hello@hoppertax.com.
