The Academy

Become a certified HopperTax tax agent

Free, self-paced training on Nigerian tax law, NRS filing and professional practice. Pass all eight parts and your verifiable certificate is issued on the spot.

8 parts, ~1 hour each

Law, filing and platform braided together, taught against worked examples rather than recited sections.

Pass 7 of 10 per part

Unlimited retakes, and every retake draws fresh questions. The test rewards understanding, not memorisation.

Publicly verifiable

Every certificate has a number a client can check on our verification page, so your credential does your marketing for you.

From registration to your first client

Certification is the middle of a five-step path. Nothing here is a black box: at every step you can see what comes next.

2

Enroll in the Academy, free

You get an enrollment code and your progress saves as you go. Slides, narration and captions, at your own pace.

3

Pass all eight parts

Each part ends with a 10-question test, pass mark 7. Retakes are unlimited and always draw fresh questions.

4

Your certificate is issued instantly

A numbered certificate anyone can check on our public verification page, valid for the tax year on it.

5

We approve your account

Our team reviews your registration against the certificate. The agent portal and professional rates unlock.

Why agents build on HopperTax

Certification is the door. This is what is behind it.

Rewarded for every clean filing

Preparing a client's return is free. You pay the full filing price, charge your client your own fee, and 14 days after a clean filing we send you back ₦2,500 on an individual return, ₦25,000 on a company. Full details on the pricing page.

A pipeline, not a pile of paper

Every client moves through intake, preparation, approval, signature and filed, with the portal tracking each one. Deadlines stop living in your head.

A credential clients can check

Your certificate number resolves on a public verification page. When a client asks why they should trust you, you have a link, not a story.

Questions agents actually ask

How much does the Academy cost?

Nothing. Training and certification are free. HopperTax earns when you prepare returns for clients, not from the course.

How long does it take?

About eight hours: eight parts of roughly an hour each. It is fully self-paced, progress saves automatically, and you can stop and resume any time.

What does the assessment look like?

A 10-question test at the end of every part, with a pass mark of 7. Retakes are unlimited, and every retake draws fresh questions from a larger pool, so the test rewards understanding rather than memorisation.

Do I need to be a chartered accountant?

No. The Academy assumes no prior qualification and teaches the law, the NRS process and the platform from the ground up. Chartered accountants have their own verification track on HopperTax.

What happens when I finish?

Your certificate is issued the moment you pass the final part, with a number anyone can verify publicly. Our team then approves your agent account against it, which unlocks the agent portal so you can file for clients.

Does the certificate expire?

It is valid for the tax year printed on it. Nigerian tax rules change, so a short annual refresher renews your certificate for the new year and keeps your advice current.

Part 1 is open. The first hour is the hardest to start.

Create an agent account, enroll free, and Part 1 of 8 is waiting. Your progress saves from the first slide.
